No other workout plan around will make you feel more manly than the caveman workout.
Although no single plan defines what it means to work out like a caveman, the central idea is always the same: to get into the most incredible shape of your life, you need to get back to the basics.
Caveman workouts are much more than mere exercise. The movements are invigorating and challenge you physically and mentally in ways you’d never expect.
According to the Daily Mail, caveman workouts rely on 13 skills that our prehistoric ancestors used in their everyday lives. These skills include walking, swimming, throwing, catching, crawling, climbing, jumping, hitting, lifting, carrying, grappling, running and balancing. The moves are combined to create a full-body workout that improves cardiovascular fitness, while increasing both muscle strength and flexibility.
Indoors and Outdoors
If you’re in the gym, you can find pieces of workout equipment that will help you achieve your caveman body. This may include using the treadmill, lifting free weights, swinging kettlebells and exercising with heavy ropes. You can design your own caveman workout plan or look for gyms that offer Paleo inspired fitness classes.
The best part about the caveman workout is that many of the moves can be performed while enjoying the great outdoors. Much of the gym equipment can be replaced with rocks and trails.
What’s more, Today Health reports that groups are getting together to meet outdoors and do Paleo workouts together. Planned activities include running barefoot and lifting heavy objects, like logs, to name a few.
As much as you may want to start out climbing trees and pushing boulders, this may not be plausible for beginners. However, the thing to remember is that you can do a caveman workout no matter what level of physical fitness you are in. You can adjust weight loads or lose the weight altogether. Using your own body weight is a great way to pose a challenge. Simple exercises found in caveman workouts that use your body weight are chin-ups and push-ups.
Once you have improved your level of fitness, you can add weight back into your routine. Caveman workouts are a mindset above all else and should be incorporated into every day life. For instance, each time you lift something, you must remember to work in a squat just as you should fully extend your body as you reach overhead to grab something.
Men need to remember to keep their body in constant motion as part of their caveman workout. Put your body in challenging positions and you’ll see major changes to your physique.
